This Week in Wesley (4.30 – 5.5)

Monday, April 30th      

*Bible Study- We have finished our Bible Study for the year. Thank you for a great semester!

 

Tuesday, May 1st

*Singers Dinner at Leigh Anne’s (7:00)- If you were part of Singers this year, please join us at Leigh Anne’s house for dinner as we celebrate the end of another fantastic year! We will leave from Wesley at 7:00.

Wednesday, May 2nd            

*Mid-Week Communion (11:30)- Stop by Wesley for our weekly Communion meditation!

 

*Graduated Student Bible Study (8:30)- A Bible Study for graduate students and students who have graduated! Meet at Wesley.

 

Thursday, May 3rd – Reading Day

*Cracker Barrel Breakfast (8:30)- We will be hitting up Cracker Barrel for our traditional Reading Day Breakfast. What could possibly be better than kicking Reading Day off with some great food and some great friends?!?! Meet at Wesley to carpool.

     

*Small Groups (7:00)- Small Groups will be meeting this week. Look for an email from your group leader(s) about times and places.

 

Friday, May 4th   

*Lunch at Owens (12:15)- If you are free and looking for lunch plans, you can join us at Owens. We will be under the picture of the toucan (who was recently named Mike)! All are welcome!

 

*Afternoon Sports- Sadly, we all have finals coming up. If it looks like enough people will be available to get some sort of pickup game going, that information will be relayed in the Mid-Week TWIW.  Be sure to take time to study, rest, and take care of yourself during this stressful time. People will be organizing random study break parties throughout finals, so be sure to check your email!

Saturday, May 5th

*Exam Break Dinner at BUMC (6:30)- BUMC is going to prepare and host a meal for college students at 6:30pm in the Whisner Building of BUMC.  RSVP to Bret (wesfound@vt.edu) by today, April 30th, if you plan on going! It is great to have a home cooked meal during finals week, so I hope you are able to make it!

 

Sunday, May 6th

*Sunday School- Sunday School has ended for the semester. We hope to see many of you again next year!

  

*Worship at BUMC (10:45)- Meet  at Wesley to walk to the traditional or contemporary service at Blacksburg United Methodist Church. BUMC also has an 8:45 traditional service for those who are interested.

 

*End of the Year Picnic – In the afternoon, we will be having our end of the year picnic at Alex’s grandparents’ house. The seniors will be reading their last wills and testaments, and there will be great food, fellowship, and fun! More details will be sent out in another email, but we hope to see many of you there as we celebrate the fantastic year we were able to share together!

 

Other Announcements

*Prayer Team- We have an exciting new opportunity in Wesley and we want you to be a part of it! In conjunction with a new prayer wall being installed at the top of the stairs we a forming a prayer team that will meet to pray over the needs of the community, the needs dropped in an anonymous prayer box, and be recognized individuals that the rest of Wesley can come to in focused prayer. This is a great opportunity for those of you that have the spiritual gift of prayer, or even those that would like expand their gift. And even more important than that a great opportunity to be in ministry with your family and friends here at Wesley. So please email Rick (vaughan8@vt.edu) if you are interested in this opportunity and you can be a part of this exciting new chapter in the activities of Wesley!

 

*Prayer Wall- Wesley has a newly installed prayer wall!!! Please use the chalk provided to write any prayer requests and praises you might have. The newly established prayer team will be praying over these requests on a daily basis, and requests can stay up there as briefly or as long as needed. This is a great opportunity to be intentional about praying with our community!!!

This Week in Wesley (4.23 – 4.29)

Monday, April 23rd     

*Bible Study (7:00)- Join us as we pick back up our discussion surrounding the hot topics of this year’s General Conference!

 

*Prayer Team Meeting (8:00)- The prayer team will be meeting in the chapel at Wesley to pray over the prayer requests lifted up by members of our community. Please join us if you’re interested!

 

Tuesday, April 24th

*Singers and Faith Unshaken at the GLC Plaza (6:30-8:30)- Faith Unshaken and the Wesley Singers will be performing on the outdoor stage at the GLC Plaza! We will start at 6:30 and end around 8:30, so stop by if you’re free anytime during those two hours. Your support is greatly appreciated, and we hope to see some smiling Wesley faces in the crowd!

Wednesday, April 25th

*Sunday School (9:45)- Meet at Wesley for Sunday School and doughnuts!

  

*Worship at BUMC (10:45)- Meet  at Wesley to walk to the traditional or contemporary service at Blacksburg United Methodist Church. BUMC also has an 8:45 traditional service for those who are interested.

 

*Crossroads/SENIOR ROAST!!! (5:30) – The week we will be roasting the seniors!!! The underclassmen will be preparing a wonderful meal, and then there will be skits and a slideshow to help us remember some of the funnier moments from the past four years. Senior roast is a great time of fellowship and laughter, and I hope all of you can make it!
